Sherry’s love for licorice started long before Sherry’s Licorice ever existed.

In the mid-1970s, Sherry worked at her parents’ filling station during summers and weekends to help pay for college. Tucked inside that station was a candy shelf — and on it, her favorite treat. As an occasional reward, she would sneak a piece of strawberry licorice. It wasn’t just candy. It was joy. And she was hooked.

That love for licorice followed her into every stage of life.

As a teacher and coach, Sherry kept licorice close by, offering it to students and athletes as a sweet reward after a great game or outstanding performance. During her own college years as an athlete, licorice traveled everywhere with her — on bus rides, long study nights, vacations at the lake, days out on the boat, and always as something to share with friends.

Over the years, the flavors grew… but the love for the chewy texture never changed. Today, while strawberry started it all, cinnamon has become Sherry’s personal favorite.

With a lifetime of sweet memories and a deep passion for this classic treat, Sherry knew she wanted to share more than just candy. She wanted to share the experience, the nostalgia, and the joy. That’s how the family business, Sherry’s Licorice, was born.

Now, that passion has been passed down to the next generation. The grandchildren are always eager to help, learning firsthand what it means to build something with heart.
